Body and spa guide

Massage, body scrubs, sauna and spa rituals

Body treatments can be relaxing, warmth-led, exfoliating or more focused. This guide helps clients choose between massage styles, scrub rituals and sauna-style add-ons.

Treatment styles

How the body treatments differ

The best option depends on whether the client wants relaxation, firmer pressure, warmth, exfoliation or a fuller spa-style reset.

Relaxation massage

Swedish, full-body and focused massage options use comfort-led pressure and a calmer appointment pace.

Focused pressure

Deep tissue and sports-style massage are firmer routes for everyday muscular tightness, not diagnostic injury treatment.

Warmth and spa rituals

Hot stone, warm bamboo, body scrubs and sauna add-ons are chosen for warmth, softness and a more premium reset.

What to expect

Before treatment, pressure preference, focus areas, comfort, room setup and suitability are checked. Massage can be adapted to lighter or firmer pressure, but pain is not the aim. Body scrubs focus on exfoliation and softness, while sauna-style heat requires extra comfort and hydration checks.

Some clients feel sleepy, thirsty or mildly tender afterwards, especially after firmer pressure. Drinking water, avoiding rushing straight into strenuous activity and listening to the body can help the appointment feel more settled.

When to avoid heat or firm work

  • Fever, active infection or feeling acutely unwell
  • Recent injury, unexplained swelling, severe pain or suspected clot symptoms
  • Broken, irritated or sunburned skin over the treatment area
  • Heat sensitivity, dizziness, dehydration or unsuitable room setup for sauna-style work
  • Medical concerns that need GP, pharmacist, physiotherapist or urgent review first

Good pairings

A body scrub can pair well with a massage for a polished, softer-feeling finish. Hot stones or warm bamboo can make a massage feel more grounding. A mobile sauna add-on is best kept unhurried, with hydration and comfort checks built in.

Scope note

Massage and body treatments are wellbeing and spa services. They are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, physiotherapy, emergency care or treatment for unexplained pain, swelling, injury or systemic symptoms.
